Ocean Lakes History
Ocean lakes Family Campground was founded in 1970 by Mary Emily and Nelson Jackson and their five daughters in, Myrtle Beach, SC. They opened the campground consisting of 30 campsites and a bathhouse on July 2, 1971.
The campsite was a big hit and people lined up outside the main gate by the hundreds, according to their website information.
In 2001 they celebrated 50 years of being in business, how many places can say that?
50 Years Later
Fast Forward to 2022. Currently, Ocean Lakes Family Campground has 859 campsites, and 2,572 annual lease sites, all on 310 acres of oceanfront property. Five bathhouses and more than 550 employees. Can you say, “Full-Service Camping Resort”?

Camping Journal Entry
“Let us share @oceanlakesfamilycampground with you! Here’s us all set up at site 4015. It was raining the entire drive and we set up in the rain. However, all that rain led to some beautiful scenery the next morning.”
Comments from Sonoma
“My pawrents took me on a car ride last week…by myself…longer than usual…to somewhere I’ve never been! It was raining even when we got to 🫤#oceanlakes but this camper thing they put me in had a couch and a bunk bed for me to snuggle in…and lots of blankets!
“

Day 2 Comments from Sonoma
“Thankfully there was no rain on Day 2 @oceanlakesfamilycampground My pawrents took me for a ride on the golf cart, where I lovingly barked at walkers, runners, dogs…I even met a Goose! We ended up at the dog park – So much room to sniff! They even took me to the beach! I made an exception of getting my feet dirty with a sandy beach…but don’t even talk to me about that ocean
.”
